The parade will form up in the same location as previous years, on Main St between Murdock and Central. The parade route will also be the same, with the parade route going down Main to First Street, turn right/west and go down First to McLean, merge on to McLean and end at Exploration Place.
One significant change will be the closure of McLean, in both directions, from 2 nd Street to
Seneca. This will reduce traffic congestion at the entrance to Exploration Place and improve pedestrian safety as they cross McLean or stand along McLean to view the parade.
In addition, closing this section of McLean will change the traffic flow through that area and into the Exploration Place parking lot. As a result, parking in the Exploration Place parking lot will be significantly reduced.
Plan ahead to use the Public Library parking lot and public parking and street parking in the neighborhood.
The post-parade activities will take place on the west side of Exploration Place, in Exploration Place and in the parking lot on the west side of the building.
(See attached maps for details). Finally, Exploration Place is providing the opportunity for an unparalleled, post-parade celebration as shown below.
Wichita transit will be stopping by the old Gander Mountain to pick folks up for the parade. Buses will start running at 0900 and end when there’s no demand, around 1600. See last two images for Transit Routes
